FAQ
Common questions
What is PinpointVerify?
PinpointVerify is in-person verification of an applicant's name and location, performed by a state-licensed notary.
What does a verification prove?
A real person with a government ID matching the name you submitted met a state-licensed notary at a confirmed location.
What is the turnaround?
Same-day digital location trace, and a scanned copy of the verification document uploaded to your dashboard in 5β14 business days.
How is this different from a background check?
A background check searches records: criminal history, employment, education. PinpointVerify confirms the physical person. We verify that a real individual appeared in person before a state-licensed notary, at a confirmed location, and signed a document under notarial witness. Background checks tell you what the records say. We tell you someone actually showed up. The two are complementary, not the same.
What does location confirmation mean?
When the notarized document ships back to us, we record the parcel's origin, the ZIP code and city it was mailed from, and compare that against the location assigned for the verification. If they don't match, we flag it. This isn't GPS tracking or surveillance; it's a shipping-origin check built into the process.
Which states do you cover?
All 50 U.S. states. We locate a state-licensed notary near your applicant's address anywhere in the country. Notarization rules vary by state, so each verification uses a notary acknowledgement built to that state's requirements.
What if my applicant is in a rural area?
Before your applicant is ever contacted, we identify and verify the nearest available notarization location and confirm notary availability. If we can't confirm a suitable location, we notify you and issue a full refund.
Can I use this for multiple applicants at once?
Yes. Each applicant is a separate verification order, priced by your volume. If you're verifying 10 or more, contact us at enterprise@pinpointverify.com to discuss enterprise pricing and consolidated billing.
What do I tell my applicant about this process?
Tell them they'll receive an email with instructions to schedule a short appointment at a nearby UPS Store. A state-licensed notary will meet them, review their government-issued ID, and witness their signature on a document. The appointment takes about 15 minutes. They'll then mail the document back using a prepaid label, no postage needed.
What happens if my applicant can't make the appointment?
Applicants can reschedule through the instructions provided. If the verification cannot be completed because your applicant fails to appear or doesn't return the document, no refund is issued for that order. If the verification can't be completed for reasons on our end, we issue a full refund.
